We just came home after a weeks family vacation in Florida. During the vacation I got a couple of ideas for short comic strips. To our kids defence, this is not a blueprint of reality – we did get them to swim in the pool once. While they charged the smartphones. To my own defence, while making this one I focused more on having it ready in a short time than to get all the details right. The comics that gets too detailed never gets finished, which is as bad as never being done.
I´m sorry for the bad ending. Have a better day than this!
As you might see, I was pretty inspired by André Franquin (Marsipulami, Nicke, Gaston) and also had influences from the MAD magazine. One of my favourite comic strip was X&Y, who always ended up killing each other.
This is the oldest comic strip I´ve been able to find in my archives. I made it during my year of art study. At that time I had a dream of some day making a comic album. When I see the strip I see not only the familiar woods from the northern parts of Sweden where I grew up, or the troll looking guy facing his final destiny. I also get back a glimpse of that dream that I forgot many years ago.
This comic fell out from an old sketchbook that has been archived in the basement for a long time. It was probably made in the 1990-ies, and it is about how people value things different ways. I laughed loud when I saw it, I had completely forgotten about it! Now I hope to spread a smile your way.
